India’s women’s cricket team will return to action later this month, hosting Sri Lanka for a five-match T20I series that marks their first international assignment after lifting the T20 World Cup. The series will begin on December 21 and is slated to provide crucial match practice ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup cycle.

According to the schedule released by the BCCI, the opening two matches will be played in Visakhapatnam on December 21 and 23. The teams will then move south to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining three games on December 26, 28, and 30. The tour has been arranged in place of a postponed Bangladesh series, ensuring India does not lose important competitive game time during the winter window.

A full strength Indian squad led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur is set to feature, offering fans a chance to watch the World Cup-winning group back on home soil. The series also gives the team an opportunity to test combinations, fine tune roles, and maintain momentum as they build towards another World Cup year.

The schedule was initially circulated through updates on X, and further details are expected to follow. As the tour approaches, excitement is already growing around India’s first home appearance since their global triumph.
