India wins silver in dressage at Asian Equestrian Championships 2025

India’s dressage team delivered an outstanding performance at the Asian Equestrian Championships 2025 in Pattaya, Thailand, winning the silver medal in a closely fought contest. Hosts Thailand bagged gold, while Hong Kong claimed bronze.

Dressage- often called ballet on horseback, is an equestrian sport where the rider and horse perform a set sequence of movements inside a rectangular arena. Judges score each movement on rhythm, accuracy, balance and harmony. The aim is to make every action appear smooth and effortless, with both horse and rider moving as one. In team events, individual scores are combined to determine the final ranking.

India’s team comprised Gaurav Pundeer, Divyakriti Singh and Shruti Vora, whose consistent and technically refined routines kept the country among the top contenders throughout. India even led the standings briefly but missed the gold by just 0.2 percentage points, highlighting how close the competition was.

Divyakriti Singh stood out with a strong performance, becoming the only Indian equestrian to win medals at both the Asian Games and the Asian Championships. She said she was proud of her horse Improver’s best-ever showing, though disappointed to miss the top spot by a narrow margin.

The team will now prepare for the 20th Asian Games in Japan and the 2028 Olympics in the United States.
