India wakes up tomorrow to a sharply divided sky , blazing heat in the west, drenching rains in the northeast, and stormy drama in between. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) attributes this to an active pre-monsoon phase where intense heat and rising moisture are colliding across the subcontinent.

In the north , New Delhi is expected to swing back toward heat after brief relief, with temperatures climbing to 37–39°C . Weather experts warn that by May 9, the capital will feel the heat intensify sharply once again. Jaipur (Rajasthan) faces a fierce day ahead, heatwave conditions are forecast in isolated pockets of west Rajasthan between May 9 and 11, with temperatures likely to breach 44°C . Chandigarh (Punjab & Haryana) should see partly cloudy skies around 36°C with possible evening thunderstorms. Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) and Dehradun (Uttarakhand) remain cooler at 15–22°C with rain and gusty winds.

In the east , Kolkata (West Bengal) braces for intense weather, thunderstorms with wind speeds reaching 50–60 kmph , gusting up to 70 kmph , are expected on May 9. Patna (Bihar) , Ranchi (Jharkhand) , and Bhubaneswar (Odisha) are all under thunderstorm and lightning alerts with gusty winds of 30–50 kmph . Raipur (Chhattisgarh) and Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) can expect thunderstorms with moderate rainfall.

The northeast remains the wettest corner of the country. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds is forecast over Guwahati (Assam), Shillong (Meghalaya), Kohima (Nagaland), Imphal (Manipur), Aizawl (Mizoram), and Agartala (Tripura) through May 10. Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) and Gangtok (Sikkim) will also see heavy isolated spells.

In the west , Mumbai (Maharashtra) stays sticky with humidity above 70% and partly cloudy skies around 32–34°C . Hot and humid conditions are very likely over Konkan and Goa through May 9, while coastal Gujarat including Gandhinagar will experience similar humid heat between May 9 and 12. Ahmedabad may touch a scorching 44°C . Panaji (Goa) will feel oppressively humid with sea breeze providing only marginal relief.

Across central India , Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) and Bhopal face dry heat with temperatures in the 39–41°C range. Raipur could see brief afternoon storms. Down south , Bengaluru (Karnataka) remains relatively pleasant at 28–30°C with isolated drizzle possible. Chennai (Tamil Nadu) stays hot and humid around 36°C with partly cloudy skies. Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) and Puducherry can expect moderate showers. Hyderabad and Amaravati face thunderstorm risks as the Bay of Bengal low-pressure system continues its grip.

In Jammu & Kashmir , Srinagar sees temperatures between 8°C and 17°C with light rain in elevated zones, offering a cool contrast to the rest of a scorching nation. Stay alert, stay safe , India has something for everyone, and not all of it is pleasant.
