India Wants More Tourists, And IndiGo Is Now Leading the Mission
In a significant move to strengthen India's position on the global tourism map, the Ministry of Tourism has entered into a strategic partnership with IndiGo, the country's largest airline, to promote India as a preferred international travel destination under the iconic 'Incredible India' campaign.
The two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on Thursday, is a strategic, non-exclusive and non-financial collaboration that aims to combine the government's tourism promotion efforts with IndiGo's vast domestic and international network. The agreement was exchanged in the presence of Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
The partnership is expected to significantly enhance India's tourism outreach by taking the 'Incredible India' message directly to millions of travellers through flights, airports and digital platforms. It reflects the government's growing emphasis on public-private partnerships to attract more international visitors, increase tourism revenue and showcase India's diverse cultural and natural wealth.
Speaking on the occasion, Shekhawat said the collaboration brings together the globally recognised 'Incredible India' brand and IndiGo's extensive connectivity, enabling India to reach wider audiences across key domestic and international markets. Such partnerships, he noted, will further strengthen India's image as one of the world's most compelling and diverse travel destinations.
As part of the initiative, the Ministry and IndiGo will jointly roll out a global communication campaign titled 'Incredible India by IndiGo'. The campaign will highlight India's heritage monuments, spiritual circuits, wellness tourism, wildlife, adventure destinations, scenic landscapes, cuisine and cultural experiences.
The promotional drive will be carried out through digital and print media, airport branding, in-flight magazines and entertainment platforms, social media campaigns, international travel exhibitions and other marketing channels. While the Tourism Ministry will provide branding assets and promotional content, IndiGo will create destination-focused campaigns and amplify India's tourism message across its customer engagement platforms.
The collaboration also includes joint participation in destination-specific promotions and tourism events. Notably, the Tourism Ministry had signed a similar agreement with Air India earlier this week, indicating a broader strategy of partnering with leading airlines to position India as a leading global tourism destination.
