India’s young guns once again proved why they remain one of the strongest forces in junior cricket, clinically defeating Pakistan Under 19 by 58 runs to book a place in the semi finals of the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2026 at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo on Sunday.

In a high pressure clash that carried all the intensity of an India Pakistan rivalry, the Ayush Mhatre led side showed composure, smart planning, and sharp execution to knock their neighbours out of the tournament and finish atop the Super Six group.

Batting first, India posted a competitive 252 all out in 49.5 overs , a total built on patience in the middle and late fireworks. The backbone of the innings came from Vedant Trivedi, who crafted a calm and mature 68 off 98 balls, holding the innings together when wickets fell around him.

The real momentum shift came in the death overs. All rounders Kanishk Chouhan and Khilan Patel stitched together a brisk 50 run partnership in just over five overs , injecting much needed energy into the scoreboard. Kanishk struck 35 off 29 deliveries, while Khilan’s unbeaten 21 off 15 ensured India crossed the 250 mark, a total that later proved decisive.

Pakistan began their chase with intent but kept losing wickets at crucial moments. The Indian bowlers maintained tight lines, built pressure, and never allowed the batters to settle. Despite a few small partnerships, Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 194 in 46.2 overs , falling well short of the target.

The disciplined bowling effort underlined India’s dominance, as the fielding unit backed every chance and controlled the game from start to finish.

With this victory, India topped the Super Six Group 2 standings and advanced to the last four. They will now face Afghanistan Under 19 in the semi final on February 4 , while the other semi final will see Australia take on England.

More than just a win, this performance showcased India’s depth, temperament, and big match mentality. From steady batting to clinical bowling, the youngsters ticked every box, sending a strong message that they are serious contenders for the title.

The road to the trophy now gets tougher, but if this commanding display is anything to go by, India’s next generation looks ready for the challenge.
