India U-19 beat Pakistan by 90 runs, maintain ‘no-handshake’ policy

India continued its “no-handshake” stance against Pakistan during their U-19 Asia Cup clash, claiming a convincing 90-run victory at the ICC Academy grounds on Sunday. The tension was evident even before the match began, as India captain Ayush Mhatre and his Pakistani counterpart Farhan Yousaf ignored each other during the toss.

Electing to field first after winning the toss, Pakistan struggled to contain India’s batting. The Indian side posted a challenging total of 240 all out in 46.1 overs, with contributions across the order. In response, Pakistan were bundled out for 150 in 41.2 overs, handing India a comfortable win.

Following the match, the teams adhered to the “no-handshake” approach, but Indian players did shake hands with the umpires before leaving the field.

Both teams had started the tournament on strong note earlier in the week. India thrashed hosts UAE by 234 runs in their opener, powered by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s blistering 171 off 95 balls. Meanwhile, Pakistan secured a massive 297-run win against Malaysia on the same day, setting up a high-stakes contest between the traditional rivals.

India U-19 will face Malaysia U-19 in their next U-19 Asia Cup match on December 16, at The Sevens Stadium, Dubai. The game is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM local time.
