India to Hold Grand Commonwealth Games Day Events Tomorrow Ahead of CWG 2030
India will celebrate Commonwealth Games Day on May 24 with a massive nationwide fitness drive as the 75th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle is set to be organised across more than 8,000 locations , with the main event scheduled in Ahmedabad , host city of the 2030 Commonwealth Games .
The celebrations are being projected as a major step in building public enthusiasm around India’s long-term sporting ambitions, including its preparations for the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2030 and the country’s larger push to emerge as a global sporting destination.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya , along with Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi , will lead the flagship cycling event at the Sabarmati Riverfront under the theme “A New Icon for a Fitter India – Pedalling to 2030.” The Sports Ministry said the initiative aims to promote fitness, sportsmanship, unity and national pride while encouraging greater public participation in sports.

The celebrations will extend to every State and Union Territory through programmes at SAI centres , Khelo India centres and community venues, with Union Ministers, MPs and public representatives expected to participate in their respective regions to strengthen the government’s vision of Sports Jan Bhagidari .
The event also reflects India’s growing sporting ambitions internationally.
