India will begin as firm favorites when they take on Bangladesh in their second match of the ICC U-19 World Cup here on Saturday. The five-time champions are coming off a convincing six-wicket win over the USA, where right-arm pacer Henil Patel starred with 5/16 as India bundled out the opposition for just 107 in a rain-affected contest. In the 17 matches prior to their U-19 World Cup match against Bangladesh, the India U-19 team achieved 14 wins and 3 losses. Their losses were against Pakistan in the U-19 Asia Cup final, England in a warm-up match, and Australia in the final of the previous U-19 World Cup. Additional details are available from sports news outlets.

Led by captain Ayush Mhatre , India boast a star-studded batting lineup, anchored by opener 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi and vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra , supported by all-rounders Aaron George and Vedant Trivedi . Wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu adds stability in the middle order. The pace attack, featuring Henil Patel, D. Deepesh, Kishan Kumar Singh, and Udhav Mohan , is complemented by spinners Kanishk Chouhan, Khilan Patel, and Mohamed Enaan , giving India a well-rounded bowling unit.

Bangladesh, captained by Azizul Hakim Tamim , will rely heavily on their experienced top order, including deputy Zawad Abrar and prolific run-getter Kalam Siddiki , who have all scored over 1,000 Youth ODI runs since 2024. Their pace duo Iqbal Hossain and Al Fahad , along with left-arm spinner Samiun Basir , is expected to challenge India on the seam-friendly Zimbabwean pitches.

While Bangladesh has shown promise with a comfortable win over the USA, India’s superior form in the last year, including series victories in England, Australia, and South Africa, makes them clear favorites. With 14 wins in their last 17 matches , India aims to continue their dominance and extend their excellent run in the tournament.

India’s balanced lineup and depth in both batting and bowling suggest a comfortable win, though Bangladesh’s pacers could make early inroads if conditions favor seam bowling. The match is set to start at 1.00 pm IST .
