India Retain No.1 Spot In ICC Men’s ODI Rankings After Annual Update
ICC has released its latest annual update of the men’s ODI team rankings, and India continue to sit firmly at the top , maintaining their position as the world’s leading 50 over side.
India, despite slipping marginally by one rating point, remain ahead with 118 points . They are followed closely by New Zealand with 113 points, keeping the race for the top spot alive. Defending world champions Australia stay third with 109 points, making the top three rankings extremely competitive.
The annual rankings update gives full weightage to matches played since May 2025 , while matches from the previous two years are counted at half value, placing greater importance on recent performances.
One of the biggest changes in the latest update came from South Africa , who climbed into the top four with 102 points, moving ahead of Pakistan , now fifth with 98 points. The remaining positions in the top ten remain unchanged, with Sri Lanka , Afghanistan , and England occupying the next spots.
The rankings also carry major importance in the road to the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 . The top eight teams by March 31, 2027 will earn direct qualification alongside hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe. This makes every ranking movement crucial over the next two years.
Further down the table, Ireland edged past Zimbabwe into 11th place, while the United States climbed above Scotland to reach 13th position. The United Arab Emirates also moved up after overtaking Canada.
With rankings becoming tighter and World Cup qualification pressure building steadily, the coming ODI seasons promise to be intensely competitive for teams across the globe.
