
India produce commanding 8-1 win over Macau in Under 18 Ice Hockey Asia Cup
India won the Ice Hockey Asia Cup match 8-1 , delivering a commanding performance built on early momentum and sustained pressure. Captain Gurtej Singh Bhatti led from the front with a brilliant four-goal haul, setting the tone for India’s dominant display throughout the game. The scoring was opened by Ajay Dangi from Rajasthan , who helped India settle quickly into rhythm, after which the team never looked back and kept control till the final whistle.
Adding to the tally, Itfiqar Hussain, Tanzin Tashi and Devansh Sharma each found the net once, reflecting the team’s balanced attacking effort and depth in finishing options. India stayed in control throughout, responding well to game situations and finishing strongly, especially in the final period.
Speaking after the match, captain Bhatti highlighted the team’s approach, saying they began with clear intent, maintained pace across all periods, and improved their response after self assessment during the game. He added that while the result was strong, the focus remains on consistency in the upcoming matches.
Harjinder Singh, General Secretary of the Ice Hockey Association of India , praised the squad’s performance, calling it a bold statement of intent. He noted the team’s composure, adaptability and growing belief, adding that the win reflects not just skill but also maturity at the international level.
The tournament features teams from Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Macau and India, making the result a significant boost for the Indian side’s campaign.
