India positioned as a global hub for innovation, says PM Modi at IMC 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 9th India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 on Wednesday, highlighting India’s rapid technological progress and its emergence as a global platform for innovation. Held from October 8-11 under the theme “Innovate to Transform,” the event brought together over 400 tech companies, 900 thought leaders, and 1,500 use cases across 40,000 square meters of exhibition space.

PM Modi highlighted India’s achievements in indigenous technology and digital infrastructure, noting the role of industry, startups, and academia in driving innovation. “Today, with government support, Indian industry, startups, and academia are working together across many sectors. India is emerging as an effective platform for innovation and progress,” he said.

The Prime Minister pointed to significant milestones in telecommunications, including the launch of the Made-in-India 4G stack, making India one of only five countries with this capability. He also noted that 5G connectivity now reaches almost every district, reflecting the strength of the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and the success of the Make in India initiative.

India’s semiconductor and manufacturing sectors are powering a new wave of growth, creating jobs, boosting exports, and integrating the country into global supply chains. Cybersecurity initiatives like Sanchar Saathi and the AI-powered ASTR tool have recovered stolen phones and disconnected fraudulent numbers, while the Financial Fraud Risk Indicator has prevented frauds worth over ₹150 crore in three months.

Highlighting digital inclusion, PM Modi said that 6.5 lakh villages are being connected at affordable prices, and stressed that India’s low-cost internet makes connectivity an integral part of daily life. The modernized Telecommunications Act which was enacted in 2023 and started and implementation started from mid 2024, has streamlined approvals, expanded fiber and tower networks, strengthened cybersecurity, and improved grievance redressal, enhancing the ease of doing business.

Concluding, the Prime Minister said, “This is the best time to invest, innovate, and make in India,” urging startups, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders to continue shaping the future and positioning India as a reliable global technology partner.
