India Open 2026: Women’s Title to South Korea, Men’s Crown to Taiwan
The India Open 2026 concluded in Delhi on Sunday with South Korea’s An Se Young and Chinese Taipei(Taiwan)’s Lin Chun Yi lifting the singles titles at the Yonex Sunrise India Open, a prestigious HSBC BWF World Tour Super 750 event.
An Se Young, the defending champion and world number one, once again showed why she is the benchmark in women’s badminton. She delivered a powerful performance against China’s Wang Zhi Yi in the women’s singles final, winning comfortably 21-13, 21-11. The Korean remained aggressive throughout, combining sharp retrieving with strong net play to keep Wang constantly on the back foot.
An, who reached the final without dropping a single game, said she focused on attacking from the start and was pleased with how her game plan worked. “I was focused on playing more attacking as she is a difficult player to beat. I am happy that I could execute the plans and win another title,” she said.
In the men’s singles final, Lin Chun Yi produced a commanding performance against Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie , beating the third seed in straight games 21-10, 21-18. The left-handed Taipei shuttler started aggressively, racing to a 10-5 lead and closing out the first game with a dominant 18-5 run.
Christie tried to turn the match around in the second game by engaging Lin in longer rallies, and briefly took the lead at 18-15. But Lin responded with five consecutive points to seal the title, ending a brilliant week for himself.
“Today I think I played well. I didn’t feel the pressure in the final. I wanted to enjoy the match and play in the moment,” said Lin. He also revealed that he had recovered from a leg injury suffered in Malaysia, which affected his performance earlier. “My injury healed well and I did well here,” he added.
The doubles events belonged to China , as the country won both the men’s and women’s doubles titles. In the women’s doubles final, Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning defeated Japan’s Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto 21-11, 21-18. In men’s doubles, Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang beat Japan’s Hiroki Midorikawa and Kyohei Yamashita 17-21, 25-23, 21-16.
Thailand claimed the mixed doubles title in a thrilling final. Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran saved four match points in the second game to defeat Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje 19-21, 25-23, 21-18.
With another successful edition of the India Open completed, the tournament once again proved its standing as a top-level stage for the world’s elite badminton stars.
