
India Must Lead AI Revolution, Says CM Revanth Reddy at Global AI Summit
As artificial intelligence reshapes economies, governance, and security worldwide, Telangana Chief minister Revanth Reddy called for a coordinated national strategy to position India as a global leader in the emerging technology. Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, he urged the Union government to establish a National AI Council to harmonize policies across states, industries, and research institutions, and proposed a dedicated Ministry for Artificial Intelligence to ensure legal safeguards, ethical oversight, and protection of national security interests.
Highlighting Telangana’s readiness to lead, he announced plans for an AI Startup Village and proposed a national AI war room , with Hyderabad offered as its headquarters to monitor rapid technological developments and strategic risks. Inviting global technology leaders and investors to collaborate, he said AI can drive inclusive growth , social justice, and poverty reduction, and suggested hosting biannual AI summits across Indian cities to sustain momentum and collaboration.
He emphasized that India must lead the entire AI value chain from GPU chip manufacturing and green energy to data storage, cloud infrastructure, and Indian language technologies guided by a clear national roadmap. He proposed establishing a world-class AI university to promote advanced research and innovation, while calling for large-scale investments to support startups and help Indian youth build global companies. Stressing the need for workforce preparedness, he highlighted comprehensive reskilling strategies to ensure AI creates new opportunities rather than job losses.
Noting the shift from machines that amplified physical labor to intelligent systems capable of analysis, decision-making, creativity, and autonomous action, he described AI and robotics as a transformative force reshaping productivity and governance. Expressing concern that platforms such as Google, Meta, X, and YouTube were not created in India, he said the country must evolve from a service provider into a global platform creator . Warning that India cannot afford to miss the AI revolution, he expressed confidence that strong policies, institutional frameworks, and strategic investments can position the nation as a world leader in artificial intelligence .
