India Must Act As ‘Economic Warriors’, Says Boora Narsaiah Goud Supporting PM’s Appeal
Against the backdrop of rising geopolitical tensions and global economic pressures , BJP leader and former Bhongir MP Boora Narsaiah Goud has supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “seven appeals” to citizens. Speaking to the media on Monday, he said it is time for every citizen to become an “economic warrior” to protect the country’s economy.
He stated that the public meeting held on Sunday at Parade Grounds, Hyderabad , was a success and described the Prime Minister’s guidelines as a “compass for national development.” He noted that developments such as tensions involving Iran and the Russia–Ukraine war are increasing pressure on foreign exchange reserves .
Boora Narsaiah Goud explained that India remains heavily dependent on imports for petroleum products, edible oils, electronics, and gold , which is affecting the trade balance. He said the Prime Minister has urged citizens to reduce unnecessary gold purchases , thereby helping to lower the trade deficit and conserve foreign exchange reserves.
At the meeting held in Secunderabad , the Prime Minister made several suggestions to the public, including reducing consumption of edible oil , using public transport more frequently, promoting carpooling , increasing the use of electric vehicles , avoiding excessive gold purchases , encouraging domestic products (Swadeshi) , and shifting towards natural farming practices . He said these steps would help reduce import dependency and protect India’s foreign exchange reserves.
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi strongly reacted to the Prime Minister’s appeal, calling it a reflection of government failure . He alleged that the government is shifting the burden onto citizens to escape responsibility for inflation and economic stress . However, the Prime Minister described these measures as “economic self-defence” and responsible patriotism in a time of global uncertainty.
