India mobile congress 2025 to spotlight 6G, AI, satcom and startups: Scindia

Asia’s largest technology event, the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, is set to commence from October 8 to 11 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, with a strong focus on next-generation technologies including 6G, artificial intelligence, satellite communications, and cybersecurity.

Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, announced the programme, highlighting that this year’s edition will serve as a significant platform to connect startups with investors and financial institutions.

“For the first time, the IMC Aspire Programme will bring together nearly 500 startups and around 300 venture capitalists, private equity promoters, and investment bankers. This summit will act as an aggregator between startups and various forms of financing,” Scindia said.

Outlining the major themes, the minister stated that while global focus is shifting beyond 5G, India is already advancing in the development of 6G technology. “Standards are being set, protocols are being worked on, and the Bharat 6G Alliance, adopted by the Prime Minister in 2022, will play a key role in this symposium,” he added.

The event will also host the International AI Summit, where the latest developments and applications of artificial intelligence will be discussed. “We are holding an Artificial Intelligence Summit as part of the programme,” Scindia noted.

On satellite communications, the minister informed that three licenses have already been granted for SATCOM services, which will be extensively debated during the dedicated SATCOM Summit.

In addition, IMC 2025 will feature a Cyber Security Summit to underline the importance of data protection and user safety. “As important as it is to provide services through telecom and its derivatives, it is equally important to ensure the safety and well-being of our 1.2 billion customers,” Scindia emphasised.

The ninth edition of the India Mobile Congress will bring together global leaders, startups, investors, and industry partners to foster collaboration and showcase India’s strengths in telecom, electronics manufacturing, quantum technology, digital inclusion, and cybersecurity, aiming to position the country as a leader in next-generation communication technologies.
