India hockey team falls 0-2 to Spain in Pro League opener

India’s hockey team got off to a disappointing start in the FIH Pro League 2025-26 , losing 0-2 to Spain at the Tasmania Hockey Centre . The defeat marks India’s fifth consecutive loss, following a challenging home leg where they scored just five goals while conceding 19.

Spain opened the scoring in the 6th minute through Ignacio Abajo , who capitalized on a sharp midfield split. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 36th minute , as Ignacio Cobos converted a set-piece opportunity.
