India Energy Week 2027 to Shift to Kolkata, Set for January 28-31

India Energy Week (IEW) 2027 will be held in Kolkata from January 28 to 31, marking a shift from Goa, where a dedicated convention and exhibition facility was inaugurated in 2026 as a proposed permanent venue for the annual energy conference.

The fifth edition of IEW will be hosted at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town, Kolkata, according to an announcement on the event’s LinkedIn page. The move is expected to bring industry leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators and technology pioneers to the city to discuss developments shaping the global energy sector.

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said he reviewed preparations for IEW 2027 with officials. He described IEW as one of the world’s largest energy gatherings and said the 2027 edition would see global CEOs, policymakers, investors and innovators converge in India.

The shift comes a year after the inauguration of a Rs 1,000-crore convention and exhibition facility at ONGC’s Advanced Training Institute in South Goa. The facility was developed at considerable speed and was positioned as a permanent home for IEW. Goa had emerged as the venue for the conference after the 2024 edition was held at a makeshift facility at ONGC’s training complex in South Goa, amid a shortage of convention centres capable of accommodating an event of IEW’s scale. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had subsequently announced that the coastal state would serve as the permanent venue.

The 2026 edition was held at the newly built Goa facility, which has a convention centre with seating capacity for around 4,000 people, along with exhibition space, meeting rooms, VIP facilities and other infrastructure for major international events.

The Biswa Bangla Convention Centre, inaugurated in 2017, is an 18-storey facility designed to host international summits, business conferences and cultural events. It features a large auditorium, exhibition areas, seminar rooms, banquet facilities and extensive convention infrastructure.

The relocation makes Kolkata the host city for IEW 2027, with the event scheduled for January 28-31, 2027.
