India Energy Week 2026 showcases nation’s integrated energy security and affordability model
India Energy Week (IEW) 2026, the first global energy conclave of the year, will return to Goa as a premier platform for international energy dialogue. The event highlights India’s efforts in ensuring energy security, affordability, and sustainability amid global price volatility and supply disruptions.
At the heart of IEW 2026 is India’s integrated energy security model, which combines infrastructure expansion, cleaner fuels, and targeted policy interventions to provide reliable and affordable energy to citizens. Over the past five years, India has added more than 80,000 fuel retail outlets, laid 25,000 km of natural gas pipelines, and connected 1,200 cities through city gas distribution networks , bridging the last-mile gap and improving access for over 50 million households and thousands of industries across the country.
India is also pursuing a balanced energy transition , integrating traditional fossil fuels with cleaner alternatives and future-ready technologies . Policy-driven measures ensure that energy reliability and affordability are maintained even as the country reduces carbon intensity ( including initiatives like E20 ethanol-blended fuels, flex-fuel vehicles, and Bio-CNG deployment across urban and rural areas ).
Consumer protection remains a key focus. Strategic interventions, including fuel duty reductions, LPG subsidies, and market stability measures , have shielded domestic consumers from sharp international price fluctuations while maintaining economic stability.
To strengthen domestic production and investor confidence , India has implemented reforms in the upstream oil and gas sector , such as simplified leasing, time-bound clearances, long-term policy stability, infrastructure sharing, investor risk-mitigation provisions, and strong environmental safeguards. These reforms have created a more transparent, investor-friendly ecosystem while reducing long-term import dependence.
By showcasing this integrated approach, India Energy Week 2026 demonstrates a model that other nations can follow combining energy security, affordability, infrastructure development, policy reforms, and a phased transition to cleaner fuels to achieve resilience, sustainability, and consumer protection.
Hosted under the patronage of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas and jointly organised by the Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry and dmg events , IEW 2026 reinforces India’s role as a global leader in energy governance and sustainable growth .
