
India dominates Asian Rifle & Pistol Championships 2026 with record medal haul
Indian shooters concluded the Asian Rifle & Pistol Championships 2026 in New Delhi with a dominating performance that highlighted the country’s growing strength in precision shooting. India dominated the championship, topping the medals table with a spectacular haul across men’s, women’s, and junior events.
The championship wrapped up with India finishing top of the medals table , amassing 94 medals, 51 gold, 23 silver, and 20 bronze across rifle and pistol events, in both senior and junior categories.
The final day of competitions was particularly memorable, with Indian shooters adding seven more medals to their tally. The Men’s 25m Centre Fire Pistol saw Amanpreet Singh clinch gold with a strong score of 589, while Gurpreet Singh and Ankur Goel took silver and bronze, completing another Indian podium sweep . The trio also helped India secure the team gold , showcasing exceptional depth and coordination in pistol events.
Indian women shooters were equally impressive. In the Women’s 50m Rifle Prone , Sift Kaur Samra and Tejaswini Sawant won silver and bronze respectively, helping India also secure team gold .
