The Indian women’s under 18 hockey team continued their impressive run in the U18 Asia Cup with a solid 3-1 win over Korea in their second Pool A match on Sunday.

With this result, India registered back to back victories after opening their campaign with a win over Malaysia and now sit firmly at the top of the Pool A standings with six points.

India made an assertive start and immediately put Korea under pressure. Their early intent was rewarded in the fourth minute when they earned a penalty stroke . Nousheen Naz showed great composure and converted it neatly to give India a 1-0 lead .

The Indian side maintained control through strong possession and sharp passing. Their dominance paid off again in the second quarter when Shruti Kumari struck in the 21st minute with a well taken field goal , extending the lead to 2–0 before half time.

Korea tried to fight back after the break and found a way into the contest in the third quarter. Gyeongmin Ryu scored in the 41st minute to reduce the margin and bring some pressure back on India.

However, India responded almost immediately. Just two minutes later, Kiran Ekka , who later earned the player of the match award , converted a penalty corner in the 43rd minute to restore the two goal cushion at 3-1 .

From there, India showed strong discipline and structure in defence. They closed down spaces effectively and did not allow Korea any further clear chances in the final quarter, ensuring a comfortable finish to the match.

India earned four penalty corners and one penalty stroke during the game, while Korea managed two penalty corners but could not convert further opportunities.

With two wins in two matches, the Indian team now turns its focus to the final Pool A clash against Singapore on June 2 , where they will aim to maintain their unbeaten momentum and secure a strong position going into the next stage of the tournament.
