The India Carpet Expo 2026 generated business orders and inquiries worth around Rs 500 crore during its four-day run in Bhadohi, with organisers expecting the event to give a boost to India's carpet exports.

The expo, organised by the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC) under the Union Textiles Ministry, concluded at the Carpet Expo Mart here on Wednesday.

CEPC chairman Mukesh Kumar Gomber said 446 overseas buyers participated in the expo and placed sample negotiation orders with 250 carpet manufacturers and exporters from Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.

“These negotiations are expected to translate into actual business in the coming period and contribute to further growth in exports,” Gomber said. Buyers from several major international markets, including the US, UK, UAE, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, China, Italy, Israel, Brazil and South Africa, participated in the event, he said.

Gomber said 106 buyers from the 11-member BRICS grouping showed particular interest in the expo. The event, held from October 4 to 7, is expected to benefit around 20 lakh weavers and artisans associated with the carpet industry, according to the organisers.

The expo brought together manufacturers, exporters and international buyers, providing Indian carpet producers an opportunity to showcase their products and explore new overseas markets.

Expo convenor Wasif Ansari, CEPC vice-president Aslam Mehboob and All India Carpet Manufacturers Association president Umesh Kumar Gupta thanked the Union Textiles Ministry, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other government representatives for supporting the golden jubilee edition of the expo.

Bhadohi, located about 70 km from Varanasi, is one of India's prominent carpet manufacturing and export centres, with a large network of traditional weavers and artisans.
