The INDIA bloc will hold a symbolic “public impeachment” of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on October 30, followed by a massive opposition rally in Delhi on November 1, escalating its campaign against alleged electoral irregularities and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists.

The mock parliamentary proceeding will take place at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi, where opposition MPs and senior leaders are expected to assemble and announce a public verdict demanding Kumar’s removal, Congress general secretary K C Venugopal said.

On November 1, the bloc will organise a ‘Dilli Chalo’ march culminating at Ramlila Maidan. The Congress has set a target of 10 lakh participants, with Mahila Congress chief Alka Lamba describing it as the opposition’s biggest mobilisation against alleged vote theft. Venugopal said the rally would bring together people from across the country to demonstrate the bloc’s commitment to protecting democracy.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has reached out to INDIA bloc constituents to ensure the participation of their leaders and MPs on both days. The party has also intensified preparations, holding meetings with its frontal organisations and leaders from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana to mobilise workers and supporters.
