India produced a dominant and composed display to defeat Bangladesh 3-0 in the SAFF Women’s Championship in Margao on Sunday, sealing their place as Group B toppers and booking a semifinal clash against Bhutan on June 3.

Coming into the match on the back of an 11-0 win over Maldives , the Blue Tigresses extended their perfect run in the group stage, collecting six points from two matches and showing strong control in both attack and midfield.

Bangladesh started brightly and nearly shocked the hosts in the opening minutes after a defensive lapse created an early chance, but goalkeeper Panthoi Chanu Elangbam was alert to deny the opportunity. India, however, soon settled into rhythm, controlling possession through sharp passing and effective use of the wings.

Despite their dominance, India missed early chances. Sanfida Nongrum failed to convert from a promising position in the 22nd minute, while Pyari Xaxa also missed a clear header shortly after. But Pyari made amends in the 36th minute, reacting quickly to a loose clearance inside the box and finishing with a powerful right-footed strike to give India a deserved lead.

After the break, India maintained their attacking intent. Substitutes made an impact as Lynda Kom Serto came close soon after entering the pitch. The breakthrough for the second goal arrived in the 78th minute when Malavika P was fouled inside the box, earning a penalty. Lynda Kom Serto stepped up confidently and converted to double the lead.

India sealed the win in stoppage time when Sangita Basfore delivered a precise cross, which Malavika P controlled well before calmly slotting home in the 91st minute.

With this commanding victory, India finished at the top of Group B and head into the semifinals full of confidence, while Bangladesh will face Nepal in the other last-four clash.
