
India bags 4 medals at Asia Pacific meet
India delivered an impressive performance at the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Badminton Competition in Kuala Lumpur, finishing with four medals, including one gold and three silver. The tournament, held from September 16 to 20 at Stadium Juara, Bukit Kiara, featured 80 athletes from 10 countries.
The star of the Indian contingent was Chanvi Sharma, who secured a gold medal in women’s singles and added a silver in women’s doubles with partner Sujita Sukumaran. Her consistent display of skill and composure stood out as the highlight of the championship.
In the men’s events, Ankit Dalal emerged as a double silver medallist. He finished runner-up in men’s singles and later paired with Amal Biju to secure another silver in men’s doubles, underlining India’s strong presence across categories.
Adding to the celebrations, India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia, B N Reddy, attended the closing ceremony to meet and congratulate the athletes for their achievements.
