India Adds Seven Medals on Day 2 of U-23 Commonwealth Fencing Championship

Indian fencers continued their strong showing at the U-23 Commonwealth Fencing Championship in Lagos, Nigeria, winning seven more medals on Day 2.

After claiming 17 medals, including four golds, on the opening day, the Indian contingent added one gold, two silver and four bronze medals across the senior individual events.

In women's Epee, India dominated the podium. Tanishka Khatri won gold, while teammate Khushi Dabhade took silver. Prachi Lohan secured bronze, sharing the medal with Australia's Harrison Asley.

India also produced a strong performance in women's Sabre. Aakhari won silver after finishing behind England's Brierley, who claimed gold. Indian fencers Jefarlin and Shruti Joshi both won bronze medals.

In the men's Foil event, Tejas Patil earned a bronze medal after a competitive campaign against an international field. Cyprus' Alex Tophalidas won gold, while England's Oliver Starange took silver. Patil shared the bronze with England's David William.

The latest haul further strengthens India's medal tally and highlights the country's dominance across both men's and women's events at the championship.
