Imtiaz Ali Returns to Soulful Romance With Main Vaapas Aaunga

Veteran filmmaker Imtiaz Ali is once again diving into themes of love, longing and identity with his upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga , whose emotionally charged trailer has struck a chord with audiences online. Known for deeply personal romances such as Rockstar, Tamasha and Jab We Met, the director appears to return to familiar emotional territory this time against the backdrop of Partition.

The trailer opens with Naseeruddin Shah playing an aging man nearing the end of his life, carrying one final wish in his heart: to return to Sargodha, the town he left behind during the 1947 Partition, and reunite with the woman he once loved. His grandson, portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh, embarks on an emotional journey across borders to fulfil that dream.

Through nostalgic flashbacks, the film reveals the younger versions of the separated lovers, played by Vedang Raina and Sharvari. The supporting cast also includes Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma and Mona Singh in pivotal roles, adding further depth to the emotional drama.

Their tender romance unfolds amid the chaos of Partition, with the trailer blending poetic visuals, heartbreak and themes of displacement.
