The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), a premier national institution under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has announced a large-scale non-teaching recruitment drive for 2025 , inviting applications for 51 vacancies across its campuses in New Delhi, Aizawl, Amravati, Dhenkanal, Jammu and Kottayam . Issued under Advertisement No. 03/2025 , the notification aims to strengthen IIMC’s administrative, research and technical infrastructure as the institute continues to expand its academic and digital initiatives.

Established in 1965, IIMC has long been regarded as a cradle of India’s media and communication leadership. While the institute is best known for training journalists and media professionals, its non-teaching workforce plays a critical role in institutional governance, research facilitation, digital archiving and academic administration. This recruitment drive reflects IIMC’s commitment to professionalizing these core support systems through merit-based selection.

The vacancies span Group A, B and C categories , offering opportunities at multiple career levels. Senior posts include Library & Information Officer (Level 11) , Assistant Registrar (Level 10) and Assistant Editor (Level 10, deputation basis) . Mid-level positions such as Section Officer, Senior Research Assistant, Professional Assistant, Assistant and Junior Programmer form the operational backbone of the institute, while Upper Division Clerk (UDC) and Stenographer posts strengthen clerical and secretarial services. The highest number of vacancies have been notified for the post of Assistant , followed by UDC , indicating a growing demand for administrative coordination across campuses.

The selection process has been designed to ensure transparency and competence. Group A posts will be filled through a written examination, skill test and interview, while Group B and C posts will be selected through written and skill-based tests. This structured approach aligns IIMC recruitment with national standards followed by central universities and autonomous institutions, ensuring that both academic knowledge and practical skills are adequately assessed.

All posts are governed by the 7th Central Pay Commission , with pay levels ranging from Level 4 to Level 11 , offering attractive salaries along with dearness allowance, house rent allowance, medical benefits and pensionary security. The retirement age of 60 years further enhances long-term job stability, making these positions highly sought-after in the current employment landscape. Selected candidates may be posted at any IIMC centre in India, providing nationwide exposure and career mobility within the institution.

The online application process commenced on December 13, 2025 , and will close on January 12, 2026 . Applicants are required to submit their forms through the official portal https://iimcnt.samarth.edu.in/ . In addition, a hard copy of the completed application along with self-attested documents and a demand draft must reach the Deputy Registrar, IIMC, New Delhi, by January 19, 2026 , via Speed Post or Registered Post. Application fees range from ₹250 to ₹1,500 , depending on the post group and category, with concessions provided to SC, ST, EWS, Women and PwD candidates . Deputation posts are exempt from fee payment.

Career experts observe that IIMC’s non-teaching roles offer a rare blend of government service security, academic work culture and intellectual engagement . Unlike routine administrative jobs, several positions involve research coordination, digital library management, data processing, policy implementation and institutional planning, making them especially attractive to aspirants seeking meaningful public-sector careers.

With competition expected to be intense particularly for Assistant, UDC and Junior Programmer posts candidates are advised to prepare thoroughly for written examinations and skill tests, with special emphasis on computer proficiency, drafting ability and domain-specific knowledge. IIMC has also cautioned that merely meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection, and that shortlisted candidates will be decided by institutional screening committees.
