IIMC Opens Online Applications for 51 Posts, Closes on January 12, 2026

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has released an official notification inviting applications for the recruitment of 51 non-teaching posts across its New Delhi headquarters and regional centres. Eligible candidates have been invited to apply online through the institute’s official recruitment portal, with the application process having commenced on December 13, 2025. The last date for submitting the online application form is January 12, 2026.

According to the notification, the recruitment drive covers a range of Group A, Group B and Group C posts, including Library and Information Officer, Assistant Editor (on deputation), Assistant Registrar, Section Officer, Senior Research Assistant, Assistant, Professional Assistant, Junior Programmer, Upper Division Clerk (UDC) and Stenographer. The total number of vacancies notified is 51.

The posts carry pay scales under the 7th Central Pay Commission, ranging from Pay Level 4 to Pay Level 11, depending on the position. While exact salary figures have not been specified in the notification, the pay level corresponding to each post has been clearly indicated.

Eligibility conditions vary by post. Educational qualifications range from a bachelor’s degree to a master’s degree in relevant disciplines such as Library and Information Science, Journalism, Mass Communication, Social Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering and related fields. Several posts also require prescribed years of professional or research experience, along with proficiency in computer applications, typing or stenography, as applicable.

Age limits have been fixed differently for various categories of posts. The maximum age limit is 32 years for Upper Division Clerk and Stenographer posts, 35 years for Section Officer, Assistant, Professional Assistant and Junior Programmer posts, and 40 years for Library and Information Officer, Assistant Registrar and Senior Research Assistant posts. For the Assistant Editor post, which is to be filled on deputation, the upper age limit has been fixed at 56 years. Age relaxation will be applicable to eligible reserved categories as per Government of India rules.

The application fee structure has been notified separately for Group A, B and C posts. For Group A posts, the fee has been fixed at Rs 1,500 for candidates belonging to the unreserved and OBC categories and Rs 750 for SC, ST, women, EWS and persons with disabilities. For Group B posts, the fee is Rs 1,000 for UR/OBC candidates and Rs 500 for reserved categories. For Group C posts, the fee is Rs 500 for UR/OBC candidates and Rs 250 for reserved categories. No application fee is to be paid for deputation posts. The fee must be paid through a demand draft drawn in favour of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, payable at New Delhi.

As per the notified schedule, the online application window will close on January 12, 2026. Candidates will also be required to submit a hard copy of the application form, along with self-attested copies of relevant certificates and the demand draft, by January 19, 2026. Applications received without the hard copy or after the due date will not be considered.

The selection process will vary according to the category of posts. For Group A posts, selection will be based on a written test, followed by a skill test and an interview. For Group B and Group C posts, candidates will be selected through a written test and a skill test. The institute has stated that only candidates qualifying at each stage will be considered for the subsequent stage. It has also reserved the right to shortlist candidates for the written examination, if required.

Applicants have been advised to ensure that they meet all eligibility conditions as on the closing date of application. Any suppression or misrepresentation of facts is liable to result in disqualification. Selected candidates may be posted at any of IIMC’s campuses, including Delhi, Amravati, Dhenkanal, Aizawl, Kottayam and Jammu. No travelling or daily allowance will be paid for attending the written test, skill test or interview.
