Three Indian Institutes of Management IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Calcutta have secured places among the world’s top 100 business schools, according to the QS Global MBA, Online MBA and Business Master’s Rankings 2026. The announcement was made by London-based QS on Tuesday, highlighting India’s rising stature in global business education.

QS stated that 14 Indian institutions featured in this year’s rankings, with the three IIMs breaking into the top 100 globally. IIM Bangalore climbed one place to 52nd, IIM Ahmedabad rose two places to 58th, and IIM Calcutta moved up one place to 64th. These gains were attributed to strong scores in employability, return on investment, and thought leadership indicators.

The QS Global MBA and Business Master’s Rankings cover over 390 programs across 80 countries and territories, evaluating global MBAs as well as specialised high-demand business master’s degrees, including Master’s in Management, Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, and Supply Chain Management.

This year, Woxsen School of Business made its debut in the rankings, being recognised as top-ranked for Diversity in Asia and securing a joint 26th place globally in this category.

While Indian B-schools have made strong progress, the United States continues to dominate the global MBA landscape, with the top four positions held by US institutions. The Wharton School topped the rankings for the first time since 2020 and also ranked highest globally for employability. Harvard Business School is in second place, MIT Sloan rises to third, and Stanford GSB drops to fourth, reflecting shifts in employability and diversity indicators.

QS President Nunzio Quacquarelli noted that India’s business schools are making significant strides, with all four Indian entries in the QS Global MBA Ranking 2026 improving their positions, a distinction unmatched by any other country. He also highlighted that India is home to six of the world’s top 50 Master’s in Management programs and that three Indian institutions debuted in the Online MBA Rankings, signalling growth in digital and flexible learning opportunities.

Of the 37 India-based specialised business master’s programs ranked by QS, including 19 in Management, seven in Finance, five in Business Analytics, four in Marketing, and two in Supply Chain Management, 10 are new entries this year. IIM Bangalore improved by two places to 30th, IIM Ahmedabad rose eight places to 48th, while IIM Kozhikode entered the next ranking range at 141-150. However, none of India’s seven entries in Master’s in Finance appeared in the top 200 this year.

Features and importance:

• Strong global recognition for Indian B-schools, with three IIMs in top 100.

• Highlights India’s growing reputation in MBA, Online MBA, and specialised master’s programs.

• Emphasis on employability, return on investment, and thought leadership as key performance metrics.

• Signals expansion of digital and flexible learning opportunities in India.

• Shows India’s competitive positioning in Master’s in Management globally.

The QS Global Rankings underline India’s rising influence in international business education and reflect the country’s efforts to enhance quality, diversity, and global employability standards in management programs.
