IIM Nagpur Unveils Pune Campus, Targets World's Top 100 Business Schools

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur has announced an ambitious five-year expansion plan that includes establishing a full-fledged campus in Pune , strengthening global collaborations, and securing a place among the world's Top 100 business schools .

The move follows the Maharashtra government's allotment of 70 acres at Moshi in Pune district on a nominal lease of Re 1 , paving the way for what the institute says will be its second full-fledged campus. According to Director Dr. Bhimaraya Metri , recently reappointed for another five-year term, the expansion is part of IIM Nagpur's vision of "From India to the World."

The proposed Pune campus will focus on manufacturing, Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and IT management . Planned programmes include an integrated BBA-MBA and a five-year BTech-MBA in collaboration with leading IITs.

The institute's Strategic Roadmap 2026–31 also outlines plans to partner with 20 leading international universities , building on its existing collaboration with the University of Lille, France , to provide students with global exposure and dual-degree opportunities. Expansion into Goa is also on the long-term roadmap.

IIM Nagpur aims to strengthen its role in energy and climate leadership through initiatives such as its Executive MBA in Energy Management, collaboration with ONGC Green Ltd , and a proposed Centre of Excellence for Heat Resilience and Sustainable Cooling.

The expansion reflects a broader trend in India's higher education sector , where leading institutions are investing in new campuses, global partnerships, research, and technology-driven programmes to boost international competitiveness and align with evolving industry demands.
