In a significant boost for Indian golf, the Indian Golf Premier League ( IGPL ) has partnered with the International Series , backed by LIV Golf , to create a performance pathway for Indian players to compete on the global stage. The agreement was announced during the Aramco LIV Golf Singapore event, highlighting efforts to strengthen opportunities for emerging talent from India.

Under the partnership, leading players from the IGPL rankings will gain entry into selected International Series tournaments held across the calendar. These events feature elite international fields and world-class courses, giving Indian golfers the chance to compete at a higher level and gain valuable global exposure.

Strong performances in these tournaments could also provide access to LIV Golf Promotions , offering a possible route into the prestigious LIV Golf League . Officials believe this structured pathway will accelerate the development of Indian golfers and connect domestic competitions with global professional circuits.

Speaking about the initiative, IGPL CEO Uttam Singh Mundy described the opportunity as a major step forward for Indian golf. LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil also emphasised that India represents a fast-growing market for the sport and said the partnership would help talented players test themselves internationally and inspire future generations.

India’s presence in global golf has gradually improved over the past two decades, with players such as Jeev Milkha Singh , Anirban Lahiri , and Shubhankar Sharma competing successfully in international tournaments. Their achievements have helped increase the sport’s visibility in the country and encouraged young golfers to pursue professional careers.

The country’s golf infrastructure has also expanded significantly, with more than 300 golf courses and several training centres and academies supporting talent development. Institutions such as the DLF Golf Academy and Jaypee Greens Golf Academy have played an important role in nurturing young players and strengthening India’s golfing ecosystem.

The IGPL , founded in 2025 , is India’s first franchise-based golf league and aims to create a strong domestic platform for professional golfers. Officials believe the new partnership with the International Series will inspire the next generation of Indian golfers and further establish India as an emerging force in the global golf landscape.
