IGNOU Centres in Odisha to Boost Jobs and Entrepreneurship

Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu , inaugurated the IGNOU Regional Centre and Skill Centre in Rairangpur, Odisha, highlighting the growing role of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in boosting India’s GDP, employment, and productivity . She urged students to utilize knowledge, skills, and technology to serve society and empower others.

Addressing the gathering, Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that these initiatives would strengthen education, skill development, employment, and entrepreneurship , especially for the most vulnerable sections . He added that empowering citizens through education and skills is central to achieving a #ViksitBharat , and praised the President’s commitment to expanding access to learning.

Shri Jayanth R. L. D., Minister of State (IC) for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Education , was present along with senior officials including Shri Sanjay Kumar , Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy; Dr. Vineet Joshi , Secretary, Department of Higher Education; and Ms. Debashree Mukherjee , Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

The newly inaugurated centres aim to provide higher education, vocational training, and skill-building programmes , offering opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship in the region. They are expected to play a pivotal role in making Odisha a hub for education and skill development , equipping the youth with future-ready skills and contributing to the nation’s economic growth and technological advancement .
