IEM-UEM’s SAP 2026 Takes 170 Students on Global Learning Journey

Learning moved beyond the classroom for 170 IEM-UEM Group students who travelled to Australia under the Study Abroad Programme (SAP) 2026, gaining exposure to global academia, emerging technologies, research and industry practices.

The programme included academic sessions, technical workshops, masterclasses, research presentations, industry interactions and cultural experiences. Students engaged with academicians and experts from the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales (UNSW) and University of Technology Sydney (UTS), exploring emerging technologies, innovation and contemporary research.

An interaction with a Microsoft resource person provided insights into evolving workplace requirements and skills needed to compete in the global technology sector. Specialised masterclasses introduced students to current developments in research, higher education and technology.

At UNSW’s Immersive Creative Technology Lab, students participated in hands-on workshops on augmented reality, virtual reality, cloud computing and robotics.

Research communication was also emphasised, with students presenting their work through oral and poster presentations before an international academic audience, strengthening their confidence in communicating technical ideas.

Students also interacted with IEM-UEM alumni working in Sydney, gaining practical insights into overseas education, career planning and international opportunities.

The programme, coordinated by faculty members, also exposed students to Australia’s multicultural environment, fostering independence, adaptability and intercultural understanding.

Director Prof Dr Satyajit Chakrabarti said such global exposure would help prepare students for future opportunities and challenges.
