Iconic cable bridge in Amaravati

Rapid steps are being taken towards the construction of the iconic cable bridge, which is crucial in connecting Amaravati to the capital. The design of this bridge was finalized by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. Recently, the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) put four models on the website and put them to public voting, but the second option was the most popular with 14,000 votes. The CM also favored this design. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been prepared for this project. To be constructed at a cost of Rs 2,500 crore, the bridge will connect the N13 road in Amaravati with NH-65 (Vijayawada-Hyderabad National Highway). Soon the tendering process will start, which will be another milestone in the development of the capital.

To give priority to local culture..

This iconic bridge design is based on the Kuchipudi dance posture, emphasizing the local culture. With twin pylons in red and white, the bridge design in the form of a swastika hand reflects the locality. Nippon Koi Limited of Japan has produced the DPR for this design. Keeping the future needs in mind, the bridge will be constructed with six lanes and sidewalks on both sides. The 5.22 km long cable bridge will be constructed from Rayapudi in Amaravati to NH-65 at Moolapadu in NTR district on the banks of Krishna river. The design combines the local cultural heritage with modern engineering to make Amaravati an identity.

Forward with new design..

In connection with this project, earlier in 2019, the Telugu Desam government had laid the foundation stone for the construction of the iconic bridge from N10 road to Pavitra Sangam at a cost of Rs.1,387 crore. However, later the YSR Congress Party government shelved the project. Now that the coalition government has come to power, it is moving forward with a new design, relocating the bridge, keeping in mind the construction of the Western Bypass. This new decision is considered to be a crucial step to develop the capital region of Amaravati with modern infrastructure. Once this bridge is completed, the capital region of Amaravati will make significant progress in transport connectivity.
