ICC Receives 1.5 Crore Ticket Applications for 2027 Cricket World Cup
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has received an overwhelming response to the ticket ballot for the 2027 Men's Cricket World Cup, recording 15,083,752 ticket applications from 142 countries within just 12 days of opening registrations.
According to the ICC, these applications generated 4,423,417 ballot registrations, highlighting the tournament's growing global appeal. The figures represent applications, not confirmed ticket sales.
The ticket ballot opened on October 1 and will remain available until November 21, 2026, at 11:59 pm South African time. Registration is free and operates on a randomised selection system for oversubscribed matches. Fans can apply for multiple matches, requesting up to four tickets per match. Successful applicants will be notified by email and given an opportunity to purchase tickets.
Ticket prices start at approximately US$9.50 for entry-level seats and reach around US$30 for the highest-tier matches, with family packages and concessions for students, pensioners and local communities also planned.
The tournament will run from October 2 to November 21, 2027, across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The 14-team competition will feature 57 matches at 12 venues, marking the World Cup's return to Africa since 2003 and Namibia's debut as a host of the senior men's tournament.
The opening stage will feature a three-team Super Series in Windhoek. Among the most anticipated fixtures, India will face Australia on October 7 in Cape Town, followed by the high-profile India-Pakistan clash at Johannesburg's Wanderers Stadium on October 10. The semi-finals are scheduled for Cape Town and Tshwane on November 17 and 18, respectively, before the final in Johannesburg on November 21.
ICC Chief Executive Officer Sanjog Gupta attributed the unprecedented demand to the tournament's stature, Africa's appeal and promotional campaigns, adding that further activities would build excitement ahead of the event.
