IAS officer’s daughter dies by suicide allegedly due to harassment

A tragic incident has occurred in Guntur district, where Madhuri Sahitibai, 25, the daughter of IAS officer S. Chinna Ramudu, died by suicide at her family home in Novodaya Colony, Tadepalli. Police say she set herself on fire after allegedly being subjected to ongoing harassment.

Madhuri’s father, S. Chinna Ramudu, currently serves as the Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh SC Commission. He previously worked as the Joint Collector of East Godavari district.

According to Mangalagiri DSP Murali Krishna, Madhuri was found in her bathroom by her parents on Tuesday after she did not come out for a long time. Police confirmed she had committed suicide and have registered a case under Section 80 (related to death due to harassment).

Police reports indicate that Madhuri had married Rajesh Naidu from Buggana Palle village in Nandyal district eight months ago. She had paused her B.Tech studies in the past due to backlogs. The couple married on March 5, informing their families two days later, and their marriage was later officially registered.

In a statement, Madhuri’s mother expressed deep grief, saying that the mental harassment she faced led to her daughter’s death. The Mangalagiri police are investigating the incident.
