The Haryana government has stepped in to take administrative control of Al-Falah University, with senior IAS officer Amit K Aggarwal assuming charge as Administrator in the wake of mounting legal, financial and security concerns surrounding the institution.

Soon after taking charge, Aggarwal initiated a major reshuffle in the university’s administration, appointing Ajay Ranga as Vice-Chancellor, Rajeev Kumar Singh as Controller of Examinations, Ravi Kumar Sharma as Chief Finance and Accounts Officer and Meha Sharma as Registrar. Most of the newly appointed officials were previously associated with JC Bose University, reflecting an effort to bring in an experienced team to stabilise operations.

The government’s intervention follows a series of investigations into alleged financial irregularities and regulatory violations at the university. The University Grants Commission had earlier flagged concerns over misleading accreditation claims, after which police registered cases of cheating and forgery. The Enforcement Directorate also launched a money laundering probe, alleging that large sums were collected from students through false assurances regarding course recognition.

The case acquired a more serious dimension when the university surfaced during investigations into the Red Fort car blast. The probe, led by the National Investigation Agency and Jammu & Kashmir Police, pointed to a suspected “white-collar” terror network, with more than 10 individuals arrested.

Officials have clarified that there is no confirmed bribery case directly linked to the university, with allegations largely centred on fraud, forgery and financial misconduct. Despite the developments, academic activities have resumed on campus, although the institution remains under active investigation. Authorities said the newly appointed administration will oversee day-to-day functioning to ensure continuity while efforts continue to address the legal and regulatory challenges facing the university.
