IAF Air Show Thrills Jaipur as Surya Kiran, Sarang Teams Dazzle Skies
A spectacular aerial display by the Indian Air Force transformed Jaipur’s iconic Jal Mahal promenade into a sea of spectators on Sunday, as thousands gathered to witness precision flying by the elite Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team and the Sarang Helicopter Display Team . The event blended breathtaking aviation skill with a powerful message of national pride, defence preparedness and civil–military unity.
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma attended the show, praising the Air Force’s courage, discipline and technological excellence. Sharma said the event reaffirmed Jaipur’s capacity to host large national programmes, noting that the city had recently staged the Army Day Parade . He emphasized that such events inspire youth to pursue careers in the armed forces while strengthening bonds between citizens and the military.
The Surya Kiran team, flying Hawk Mk-132 jets , executed complex manoeuvres including inverted runs, barrel rolls and bomb-burst formations . Spectators were mesmerized by formations resembling a DNA structure and a heart formation , highlighted with tricolour smoke trails. The Sarang team performed equally impressive routines using indigenously built HAL Dhruv helicopters , showcasing arrowhead, dolphin leap, cross-over break and diamond formations. Pilots greeted the audience with traditional Rajasthani salutations “Khama Ghani” and “Ram-Ram Sa” drawing loud applause.
Officials highlighted the IAF’s dual role in safeguarding national borders and providing humanitarian assistance during disasters and emergencies. References to operations such as the Balakot air strike underscored the force’s operational readiness and strategic capability.
Governor Bagde described the air show as historic and inspirational, saying it deepened citizens’ respect for the armed forces and reinforced commitment to Maa Bharati . He also noted that hosting major defence events outside traditional cantonments reflects India’s growing self-reliance and public engagement in national security.
Extensive security arrangements , traffic diversions and coordinated crowd management ensured smooth conduct despite the massive turnout. Beyond entertainment, the air show boosted tourism, encouraged interest in aviation and STEM careers , and showcased India’s indigenous defence capabilities and aerial excellence.
The flawless precision, coordination and discipline displayed in the skies over Jaipur served as a vivid reminder of the armed forces’ dedication to the nation.
