I Asked Maa Sita to Act Through Me: Sai Pallavi on Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana

Sai Pallavi left the audience emotional at the grand Ramayana: Pratham Sankalp event in New Delhi as she opened up about the deeply spiritual journey of portraying Maa Sita in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana . Starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana, the epic is being mounted on an unprecedented scale by producer Namit Malhotra , with Part 1 scheduled to release during Diwali 2026 .

Taking the stage, Sai Pallavi began with a smile, saying, “Please excuse me if my Hindi is bad,” before sharing how special the role has been for her. Calling it one of the greatest blessings of her career, the actress said playing Maa Sita is not a role an actor can simply chase.

“It’s not easy for actors to get a goddess role like Maa Sita. A hardworking team that can put its heart and soul into a film is required to present the best version of Ramayana to the world so that people in the future look up to it,” she said.

Expressing gratitude to producer Namit Malhotra, Sai Pallavi added, “I thank Namit Malhotra sir for choosing me. I was blessed to play Maa Sita. It’s not something you can go after.” She then revealed the spiritual practice that helped her prepare for the iconic role.

“I would meditate and ask Maa Sita to act through me. I tried to keep my thoughts as pure as possible. I learnt a lot through this process,” she shared, adding that the character transformed her both as an actor and as a person.

Her heartfelt speech quickly became one of the biggest highlights of the evening, earning loud applause inside the venue and widespread praise across social media. Fans admired the sincerity with which she spoke about embodying one of Indian mythology's most revered characters, with many calling her the perfect choice for Sita.

The Ramayana: Pratham Sankalp event itself was packed with memorable moments. Yash described the film as "India's dream project" and praised Ranbir Kapoor for completely surrendering himself to the role of Lord Ram, while also calling Sai Pallavi a "flawless actor." Ranbir, meanwhile, won hearts by paying tribute to Arun Govil and touching the feet of Govil, Sunny Deol and poet Kumar Vishwas during the event.
