Hyundai’s Genesis surpasses 1.5 million global sales in a decade
Hyundai Motor Co.'s luxury brand, Genesis , has crossed a major milestone, surpassing 1.5 million units in cumulative global sales, ten years after its market debut. The achievement highlights a faster early growth trajectory than that of Toyota’s Lexus during its initial years.
According to Pulse , the English service of Maeil Business News Korea, Genesis sold 1,510,368 vehicles worldwide as of November 2025. The brand first launched on November 4, 2015 , alongside the release of the G90 sedan .
Genesis’ journey began modestly, with just 530 units sold in its launch year over two months. By 2016, global sales had surged to 64,000 units , signaling a strong market entry. Since then, annual sales have continued a steady upward climb: 201,415 units in 2021, 215,128 units in 2022, 225,189 units in 2023, and 229,532 units in 2024.
Through November 2025, Genesis recorded 200,878 units , a 5% decline from the same period in 2024. Despite the slight dip, the brand’s overseas sales share rose from 43% to 46% , reflecting growing global recognition and expanding international demand.
The G80 has been the standout performer, driving much of Genesis’ growth over the decade. With 501,517 units sold through November 2025, it became the first Genesis model to exceed half a million units in cumulative sales, cementing its status as the brand’s best-selling luxury model.
Genesis’ milestone not only underscores Hyundai’s ambition in the premium vehicle segment but also signals the brand’s increasing global footprint as it enters its second decade.
