HYDRAA Sets Dasara Deadline for Sunnam Cheruvu, Thammidikunta Works

HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath has directed officials to complete the ongoing development works at Sunnam Cheruvu and Thammidikunta by Dasara and ensure that their surrounding areas are also beautified.

Ranganath inspected both water bodies on Tuesday and reviewed the development works planned around them with officials. He expressed satisfaction over the completion of desilting works at the two lakes and the efforts to increase their depth.

The HYDRAA Commissioner instructed officials to install strong fencing, pathways and greenery around the lakes to improve their appearance and accessibility. As Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is expected to inaugurate the two lakes during the Dasara festivities, he directed officials to speed up all pending works and complete them at the earliest.

At Sunnam Cheruvu, Ranganath ordered officials to immediately complete the inlet canal, culvert construction and road works. He also directed them to improve the access routes connecting the lake with Gayatrinagar and Borabanda, stressing that development should extend beyond the water body to the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Ranganath also inspected the development of the Anjaneya temple located adjacent to Sunnam Cheruvu. He emphasised the need to create an attractive environment around the lake and improve the overall appearance of the surrounding area.

Local residents appreciated the visible transformation at Sunnam Cheruvu compared with its earlier condition. Several residents also praised the development of Thammidikunta following the removal of N-Convention, noting the changes brought to the lake and its surroundings.

Later, Ranganath, along with CMC Commissioner Srijana, reviewed the remaining development works to be undertaken at both water bodies. Officials from the CMC and HYDRAA participated in the review meeting.
