HYDRAA reclaims ₹139 crore park land in Rajendranagar

The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has reclaimed government park land worth ₹139 crore from encroachers in Rajendranagar Mandal, Rangareddy district. The operation was conducted on Wednesday following complaints from local residents about the illegal occupation of park areas in the Janachaitanya Layout Phases 1 and 2, located near Budvel and Upparapalli villages.

According to HYDRAA officials, the encroachments were obstructing urban development and violating public space norms. In coordination with revenue and municipal authorities, a field inspection was carried out, confirming large-scale illegal constructions on the designated park sites.

Following this, HYDRAA teams launched a clearance operation and removed unauthorized structures, including compound walls, temporary sheds, and rooms built on plots measuring 3,000, 1,000, and 500 square yards. The reclaimed land measures approximately 19,878 square yards (about 4.1 acres).

Officials estimated the current market value of the recovered land at over ₹139 crore. After the clearance, fencing work was immediately undertaken to secure the area and prevent future encroachments.

This marks another significant action by HYDRAA in safeguarding public property. Earlier, on October 10, the agency reclaimed around 5 acres of government land in Banjara Hills, valued at ₹750 crore.

HYDRAA was officially established by the Telangana Government on July 19, 2024, to protect public properties, remove encroachments, and manage disaster-related issues. Since its inception, HYDRAA has recovered approximately 923.14 acres of land across the state, including parks, drains, canals, and roads, with an estimated total value of ₹50,000 crore.

The HYDRAA Commissioner stated that the organisation has conducted 96 special drives, resulting in the removal of 581 encroachments so far.
