HYDRA Rescues Stranded Persons from Mir Alam Lake

Nine workers and engineers stranded in the middle of Mir Alam Lake , near the Old City Zoo Park, were safely rescued in a late-night operation by the HYDRA Disaster Response Force (DRF) after their boat engine failed. The incident occurred on Sunday, and the rescue operation continued until midnight on Monday.

The group had gone to the middle of Mir Alam Tank for soil testing related to a proposed bridge project . While returning in the evening, the boat’s engine malfunctioned, leaving them stranded. A mechanic later informed them that repairs were possible only if the boat was brought to the shore.

They tried to manually push the boat, but thick water hyacinth blocked its movement. As darkness fell and fears grew over the presence of crocodiles , panic increased, prompting them to call the ‘Dial 100’ emergency helpline .

The HYDRA Disaster Response Force control room responded immediately and launched a rescue operation. Using torches and mobile phone flashlights as signals, the team reached the stranded group.

In the first trip, four persons were brought safely to shore, followed by the rescue of the remaining five without any casualties. The rescued workers and engineers expressed gratitude to the HYDRA team. Officials praised the force for its timely response and coordination.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , responding on the social media platform ‘X’, appreciated HYDRA’s role in protecting public assets and responding to emergencies, and congratulated the team for saving lives under challenging conditions.
