Hyderabad to Launch LIG Indiramma Housing Programme Today, 500 Houses Planned per Constituency

In a significant step towards providing permanent housing to economically weaker families in the state capital, the Telangana government will formally launch the LIG (Low-Income Group) Indiramma Housing Programme in Hyderabad on July 20 . The initiative will be inaugurated at the State Secretariat by the state government as part of its broader mission to ensure housing for all eligible poor families.

Announcing the launch, Revenue, Housing and Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the programme reflects the commitment of the government led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to fulfil the dream of home ownership for the underprivileged. He stated that the government is determined to provide every eligible poor family, from rural villages to urban centres, with a safe and dignified place to live.

The minister said that at 11:30 a.m. on Monday , the application process, eligibility criteria and scheme brochure will be released at the Secretariat in the presence of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy district in-charge ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Duddilla Sridhar Babu , along with Hyderabad district minister Mohammad Azharuddin .

Under the first phase of the programme, the government will begin construction of 500 houses in every Assembly constituency . Telangana has already set an ambitious target of constructing 2.5 lakh houses in rural areas and 1 lakh houses in urban areas during the current financial year, taking the total to 3.5 lakh new homes . Combined with the 4.5 lakh houses sanctioned last year , the government aims to benefit more than eight lakh families .

For Hyderabad, the government has identified valuable land parcels in key locations exclusively for housing projects. Depending on local requirements, plots ranging from one to five acres have been earmarked. The houses will be developed as multi-storey residential complexes of up to ten floors , equipped with modern amenities and infrastructure.

Since each Assembly constituency will function as a separate unit for implementation, eligible beneficiaries have been advised to apply within their respective constituencies. Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reiterated that the Indiramma Housing Scheme will continue until every eligible homeless family in Telangana is provided with a permanent home.
