Hyderabad to Host Key Academic Meet on Culture, Heritage and Historiography

In an effort to re-examine the relevance of history in contemporary society, the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University is set to host a two-day national seminar titled “Echoes of the Past: History and Heritage Shaping the Society.” The event will take place on March 30 and 31 at the Dr. NTR Kala Mandiram in Nampally, Hyderabad.

Organized by the Department of History, Culture, and Tourism , the seminar aims to create a dynamic academic platform where scholars, historians, researchers, and students from across India can come together to discuss how history continues to shape identity, governance, and cultural consciousness .

Unlike conventional discussions that treat history as a static record, this seminar will focus on its ongoing influence on modern society , highlighting how interpretations of the past inform present-day narratives and future policy directions. Experts will present research papers , engage in critical debates, and explore new approaches to historiography and heritage studies .

A major segment of the seminar will focus on Telangana’s historical evolution , addressing challenges in rewriting regional history , uncovering lesser-known narratives, and integrating fresh academic perspectives. Another key theme, “Vibrant India,” will examine the country’s diverse cultural fabric, ancient knowledge systems, and evolving historical documentation methods .

The discussions will also extend to heritage tourism , emphasizing the need for preservation of historical sites while leveraging them for sustainable economic growth.
