Telangana is all set to celebrate Sankranti this year with grandeur, showcasing its rich culture and traditions. Following directives from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the state government has made extensive preparations for an international kite festival, scheduled from January 13 to 15, that will transform the city into a vibrant hub of festivities.

On Monday, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao conducted a high-level review of the festival arrangements. He emphasized that the event should reflect Hyderabad’s cultural heritage and festive spirit, making a strong impression both nationally and internationally. Special attention was given to hosting kite-flying events at the lakes revived under the HYDRA initiative, ensuring families can enjoy the festival in a safe and convenient environment. Authorities were instructed to provide proper stages, security, parking, and transport facilities.

The festival will feature dedicated branding, a unique logo, and promotional activities. Officials from GHMC, HNDA, and HYDRA have been tasked with coordinating the preparations, and ministers will personally monitor the arrangements from the first week of January, providing guidance as needed.

The main events will be held at Parade Grounds, attracting kite artists and tourists from across India and abroad. Additionally, a Hot Air Balloon Festival will take place on the city outskirts, serving as a special attraction for visitors. Plans are also underway for a Drone Festival featuring renowned pilots from across the country.

Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, and other senior officials attended the review meeting.

With meticulous planning and strict supervision, the Telangana government aims to make this international kite festival a memorable experience for residents and tourists, putting Hyderabad prominently on the global cultural map during Sankranti.
