Hyderabad to Host BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group Meeting in August

Hyderabad is gearing up to host the Second BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) Meeting on August 4 and 5 , marking another major international event under India's BRICS Presidency 2026 . With delegates from the expanded BRICS bloc expected to attend, the Telangana Government has begun extensive preparations to ensure the conference is conducted seamlessly and showcases the city's reputation as a premier global events destination.

To review the arrangements, Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju chaired a high-level meeting at the State Secretariat on Tuesday, directing all departments to work in close coordination and complete preparations well before the event. Senior officials from both the Central Government and the State Government participated in the review.

The conference is expected to attract around 40 international delegates from the 11 BRICS member countries , along with nearly 40 senior officials from the Government of India . The meeting is part of a series of engagements being hosted by India during its BRICS presidency, aimed at enhancing cooperation among member nations in governance, transparency and institutional reforms.

During the meeting, Sushil Kumar Patel , Joint Secretary in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) , presented a detailed overview of the event's logistical requirements. He requested the State Government's support in ensuring foolproof arrangements for security, protocol, accommodation, transportation, sanitation, emergency medical services, venue management and other essential logistics .

Reviewing the plans, Sanjay Jaju instructed officials to ensure robust security , efficient traffic management , uninterrupted civic services and high standards of public hygiene throughout the conference. He also emphasized the importance of preparing comprehensive contingency plans and maintaining constant coordination with the Centre to ensure the event proceeds without disruption.

The BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group serves as an important platform for member nations to strengthen collaboration in preventing corruption, recovering illicit assets, combating economic offences and promoting transparency through digital governance . The Hyderabad meeting is expected to build upon the outcomes of the first ACWG meeting held earlier this year, where discussions centred on enhancing international cooperation against corruption and improving institutional accountability.

Highlighting Hyderabad's growing global stature, the Chief Secretary said the city has successfully hosted several high-profile international summits and business conferences over the years. He noted that the upcoming BRICS meeting offers another opportunity to reinforce Hyderabad's image as a world-class destination for international diplomacy and multilateral engagement .

Assuring full cooperation to the Government of India , Sanjay Jaju said the Telangana Government would ensure all arrangements are completed within the stipulated timeline while prioritising the safety, security and comfort of every visiting delegate.

The review meeting was attended by Vani Prasad , Special Chief Secretary for Tourism and Culture; Dana Kishore , Special Chief Secretary, Panchayat Raj; Ahmed Nadeem , Principal Secretary, General Administration Department; Christina Z. Chongthu , Principal Secretary, Health; and other senior officials.
