The Telangana government is preparing to launch construction of 100,000 Indiramma houses in Hyderabad as part of its effort to provide quality housing for the urban poor without disrupting their livelihoods, according to Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy .

The minister announced that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will soon lay the foundation stone for the first phase of the housing programme in the city. The government is also working on a plan to complete the houses within a year and subsequently take up another 100,000 housing units in the next phase.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for an Integrated Sub-Registrar Office Complex at Banjara Hills on Saturday, alongside ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Mohammed Azharuddin , Ponguleti said the government is committed to ensuring that economically weaker sections receive housing in locations close to where they currently live and work.

He stressed that the administration would not follow the practice of allotting houses in far-flung areas, a move that often affects beneficiaries’ access to jobs and essential services. Instead, each Assembly constituency will be treated as a separate unit, with housing projects developed within the same constituency for local residents.

According to the minister, the government's welfare initiatives are being designed to reach beneficiaries directly and improve living standards without causing displacement. The proposed housing projects will be equipped with modern infrastructure and civic amenities , making them more suitable for long-term urban living.

Ponguleti also highlighted efforts to modernise public services through the construction of integrated registration facilities. The new complexes are intended to bring together services related to Stamps and Registration, Survey and allied departments under one roof, enabling citizens to access multiple government services more efficiently.

As part of broader administrative reforms, the government plans to upgrade 13 Sub-Registrar Offices located within the limits of three urban corporations and transform them into modern, corporate-style service centres aimed at improving public convenience and service delivery.

The minister said the infrastructure projects are being implemented without placing an additional financial burden on the state exchequer. Construction responsibilities are being entrusted to leading players in the real estate sector under a collaborative model.

He noted that Phoenix Group will construct the Banjara Hills integrated complex, spread over nearly 30,000 square feet , and is expected to complete the project within a few months.

The facility will house the S.R. Nagar, Banjara Hills and Golconda Sub-Registrar Offices , along with the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Office and the Registrar of Chits, Golconda Office . The minister said the project is expected to improve administrative efficiency while also generating local employment and business opportunities in the surrounding area.
