Hyderabad police have busted an alleged hashish oil trafficking operation, arresting six people and recovering 12 kg of the contraband worth around Rs 1.5 crore. The seizure was made as the group was allegedly moving the consignment from Andhra Pradesh towards Bengaluru through Hyderabad.

Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumathi said the arrests followed specific intelligence about the transportation of hashish oil from Alluri Sitarama Raju district to Bengaluru. Acting on the information, police intercepted the suspects near Vanasthalipuram and detained them for questioning.

Among those arrested are an IT employee and two 17-year-old boys. Investigators found that four of the accused had allegedly concealed the oil in one-kilogram packets and strapped them to their legs and stomachs using adhesive tape. Each of the four was reportedly carrying about three kilograms, resulting in the recovery of the entire 12-kg consignment.

Police identified G. Srinu, a resident of Gemmeli village in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, as the alleged key operator. He had previously been arrested in Andhra Pradesh in cases related to the illegal transportation of ganja and hashish oil, according to the police.

Investigators said Srinu allegedly returned to the illegal trade after his release from prison. He is suspected of working with Krishna, who allegedly supplied the contraband, and Sijo, a Bengaluru-based receiver.

Police also alleged that Srinu and his wife recruited unemployed tribal youth from nearby villages by promising them money to transport the hashish oil. The investigation indicates that similar consignments may have been transported through the network on earlier occasions.

For the latest consignment, Sijo allegedly promised to pay Rs 10 lakh for delivering the 12 kg of hashish oil to Bengaluru. Srinu, his wife and four others subsequently travelled from Alluri Sitarama Raju district towards Bengaluru by private transport, passing through Hyderabad.

While six people have been arrested, Krishna and Sijo remain absconding. Special teams have been deployed to trace them. Police are also probing the wider supply chain to identify other individuals who may be connected to the hashish oil trafficking network.
