
Hyderabad Police Seize 7 Tonnes of Artificially Ripened Mangoes
In a major crackdown against gangs selling chemically treated fruits that endanger public health, Hyderabad police conducted intensive raids on Friday, seizing over 7 tonnes of artificially ripened mangoes .
In Asif Nagar , the H-FAST teams carried out a swift operation targeting a fruit warehouse. Officials discovered mangoes sourced from Bata Singh Market being artificially ripened using excess ethylene packets . Around 7 tonnes of mangoes were confiscated, and cases were registered against the accused, Jameel and Farid .
In a separate operation near Choodi Bazaar, Goshamahal , police arrested businessman Kunal Noktavale , who was found artificially ripening nearly 200 kg of mangoes using excessive Diamond Ripe chemical packets . Authorities highlighted that such practices are hazardous to consumer health .
Speaking on the operations, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar warned that consuming chemically treated fruits could lead to throat irritation, vomiting, and other health issues . He urged consumers to carefully inspect fruits before purchase and be alert to any chemical odour . He also advised reporting any illegal storage or artificial fruit activities immediately to Dial 100 or the H-FAST helpline .
